Kutztown wins 2nd Straight ACRL Tournament

Kutztown went undefeated to claim the title on the second leg of the Atlantic Coast 7s Series Saturday in Raleigh, N.C. The Golden Bears, who finished second at the 2014 Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship, are sharpening their claws for another run at PPL Park this May.

Finishing right behind Kutztown were the Hokies of Virginia Tech, who are already slated to compete in their third-straight trip to the big dance this spring. The Hokies did stumble in pool play to rival Virginia, a team to look out for in the Atlantic coast’s championship April 18-19 in Charlotte, which also serves as a CRC qualifier.

There are two more preliminary tournaments in the Atlantic Coast 7s Series before the culmination in Charlotte. CRC regular Notre Dame hosts the next one March 28 in South Bend, Ind., and the Hokies are putting on the final one April 11 in Blackburg, Va.
