Life captured the 2016 Women’s CRC Cup with a 19-10 win over Lindenwood. The Running Eagles got the match rolling in the opening moments. Christina Swift lived up to her apt last name, scoring a try to put Life up 5-0. Lindenwood was able to answer back with a takeaway and long 80 meter try by Hannah Gauthreaux. That knotted things up at fives. It took until the halftime horn for another score, and it was Life that would take command with a halftime lead. Madison Ohmann took the ball away and carried to midfield before being stopped. She passed off to Nicole Strasko, who easily got over to put Life up 12-5 at the half. At the start of the second, each team failed to control possession and traded knock-ons around the four minute mark. Lindenwood finally got close to the line, and were able to get over with McKenzie Hawkins. They put the conversion off the crossbar, so the Running Eagles clung to a 12-10 lead. Life would get it back quickly, as Strasko took a great offload for the score. The conversion put Life up 19-10, and it would remain that way.
