Founded in 1839, Bloomsburg University located in Northeast Pennsylvania. Right in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. Bloomsburg University is a comprehensive public institution offering 56 undergraduate and 21 graduate programs, including a doctorate in audiology and more than 50 undergraduate minors. Its campus is the 3rd largest school of the 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university houses 73 buildings on two campuses across 367 acres in Columbia County. Bloomsburg University Women’s Rugby was established in 1995 and celebrated it’s 20 anniversary in the spring of 2015. The team went through a recent change and made the decision to become a competitive program with the addition of bringing on an official coach. Kevin Castner, has since guided and helped the team with the adjustment competing in their first year in Division II. During the Fall 2014 season the team finished as MARC Conference runner-up. That was topped off with a Sweet 16 appearance for their 15s program. During the Spring 2015 season the team went on to win the MARC Conference 7s Champion and finished as the ACRA 7s National runner-up. Going from strength to strength the women energized by the previous year went on to capture the Fall 2015 MARC 15s Championship. This lead to the team winning the Mid-Atlantic Regional title. This earned the team a Final Four debut where the women finished 3rd in the Fall Division II Championship. With the upcoming Spring 2016 season the team is looking forward to growing and building upon it’s 7s program and adding titles along the way as they look to peak at this year’s CRC’s.
